FSGS Society Webinar Service – Present a Live Webinar

To provide a live webinar (presentation) at your society in your venue and/or to your members’ homes, you will need to submit a request. This option can also be used to conduct board meetings.

Instructions to request a live webinar for Society presentation in your venue (and/or to a home audience if desired) or for a Society Board meeting:
  • You will receive an acknowledgment email that we received your request.
  • The FSGS Technology Committee will provide an “FSGS Assistant” to work behind the scenes with the society in putting on the webinar.

General information about using the webinar service:
  • The FSGS Technology Committee will provide an “FSGS Assistant” to work behind the scenes with the society.
    •  The society Webmaster/Tech Person must maintain contact with the FSGS Assistant to fine-tune the technical details.
  • The society Webmaster/Tech Person and the speaker will be registered as “Panelists” and will receive a confirmation email from GoToWebinar with a special link to join the actual webinar; this link will also be used for the practice session.
  • The FSGS Assistant will work with the Society Webmaster/Tech Person to schedule a practice with the speaker. This can be done at any time and date (except when another webinar is scheduled) before the actual webinar, once the details are scheduled. Ensure that all computers in use will be the same computers used for the webinar, as the GoToWebinar program will need to be installed to be able to broadcast. The microphone and speakers for the speaker's computer must be tested as well.
  • All panelists should connect at least 30 minutes before the presentation.
  • The webinar has to start at the publicized time and should not last more than 60 minutes, without the Q&A.
  • In order to record a webinar, the society must have written permission from the Speaker.
    • FSGS has created a repository of recorded webinars, so please consider recording and sharing your webinars. All credits and copyrights remain to the FSGS and the Speaker.

To broadcast at the venue (and possibly to a home audience):
  • Ensure that the venue has a good internet connection; it’s better to have cable than WiFi.
  • When broadcasting to the venue, the computer used must be connected to a projector.
    • Computer speakers will normally not be sufficient. For optimal results, you should connect the computer directly into the sound system in the meeting room. A Bluetooth enabled boom box or portable speakers will also work.
  • The society can assign a manager/host of the webinar to work with their Webmaster/Tech Person and the FSGS Assistant. This person will introduce the speaker and handle questions of the listeners to the webinar. If the society prefers, the Webmaster/Tech Person can perform this task.
  • At least one week before the presentation, a test will be run to ensure you have everything working.
